Last February, our very talented Creative Director, Jon Wilcox, sojourned to Hollywood for a week to work as a concept artist on the new Blockbuster movie, Kong: Skull Island, which hit theaters this past weekend. Jon recently returned to LA to attend the premier, with the likes of Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, and Brie Larson.

And as it turns out, this is not Jon’s first rodeo on Rodeo! He has been a part of other projects such as “Kings of Summer,” and the short film, Successful Alcoholics, as well as the Comedy Central series Mash Up. These creative efforts are in addition to his other projects outside the beltway, including performing at South By Southwest with his band, Sleepy Holler.

His role on Kong was to help with the concept art during the early stages of the movie’s pre-production phase, including illustrations for scenery, movie objects, and title treatments.

On this opportunity and what it brings to his work here at Beekeeper Group Jon says:

“Being a small part in a huge film production is an easy reminder of how much can be accomplished when people work together toward a larger goal. In many ways, that’s what we try and do in our advocacy work, collaborating with our clients to tell stories and make change. And once you’ve worked in the presence of a 100-foot tall gorilla, it really puts the day-to-day challenges into perspective.”

We want to congratulate Jon on this awesome opportunity and look forward to seeing a familiar name when the credits roll!
