Well, it was only a matter of time…

Politico’s Morning Tech reports that the Consumer Electronics Association has gone where no advocacy group has gone before — THE VIDEO BROCHURE.

Members of Congress will begin receiving a video brochure from CEA today. MT was lucky enough to play around with the paper brochure, titled ‘America is Ready for a Comeback.’ When you open it up, a video screen begins playing an introduction from CEA chief Gary Shapiro, who outlines the importance of innovation.

Lawmakers can choose to jump around and watch various chapters on the brochure, which you can do by clicking chapter buttons on it. Each chapter plays a short video on a policy initiative. It also features Reps. Bob Goodlatte, Fred Upton, Zoe Lofgren, Mike Doyle and Greg Walden, among others, weighing in on innovation-focused policy topics. The slick multimedia brochure was made by one of CEA’s newest members, Los Angeles-based Americhip.

This is a great example of best practices in advocacy not only because the communications piece embodies the innovation that CEA is advocating for, but especially because it uses video to communicate complex policy issues, something Beekeeper Group recommends to all of our advocacy clients.

Now pardon my brevity, but I have a video brochure to go reverse engineer…
