I’ve been meaning to write a blog post for a while about the great work that Maddie Grant and Lindy Dreyer are doing at SocialFish. And now, with recent release of the their book “Open Community” — it’s definitely time!
First, a bit of background on SocialFish… They are unique. They go into nonprofits and associations before they get active in the digital space and help to get leadership on board, sort out internal responsibilities, and generally ease staff and membership into the world of opportunity that social media tools can bring.
The premise (and title) of their book is “Open Community.” As they note, this is a scary concept for many organizations, as it requires letting go of some control. But don’t worry, they would never just leave you there in fear! They delve into five guiding principles that, if embraced, can launch an organization into social media comfort and success.
