Shana is a founding Partner of Beekeeper Group, a DC-based public affairs firm, where she helps a wide array of corporate, association, and nonprofit clients with their communications and advocacy strategies, focusing on websites, social media, and mobile technology for online community building.
Prior to launching Beekeeper Group, Shana was the Online Community Director for NextGenWeb.org, an initiative of USTelecom, the broadband association. Before that, she was the Director of Strategic Communications at Amplify Public Affairs, where she was the first employee to be a hybrid of the Public Affairs and Internet departments. Shana has also worked in-house at several national nonprofit organizations, including Public Citizen and Earthjustice.
Shana’s innovative approach to communications has been widely acclaimed. She was selected as one of PRWeek’s 40 Under 40 in 2014 and has also helped her clients to win awards, including top honors in the Communicators, Tellys, and W3 Awards. She was the founder of renowned local blog, “The DC Concierge,” which she authored from 2006 to 2010. Shana presents and comments frequently on social media topics, including appearances in CNN.com, Mashable, ABC News, TIME, Politico, and The Hill. Shana has a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a Juris Doctor (JD) from Temple University.
When she’s not at the Hive, Shana spends her time engaging on her favorite social media platforms and supporting local organizations such as Safe Shores – The DC Children’s Advocacy Center, The Trust for the National Mall, and the DC chapter of The Awesome Foundation.
